Don't let your crew be criminalised and your vessel detained over drugs planted without their knowledge.

Seafarers are increasingly the unwitting victims of drug trafficking schemes — used as unknowing carriers, with vessels boarded, detained, and crew members prosecuted or imprisoned for concealment they had no part in. We help protect your crew and your vessel through rigorous anti-smuggling search procedures, vulnerability assessments, and port-security protocols, reducing the risk of wrongful criminalisation, costly detentions, and reputational damage.

Maritime Security Training Services

Offered in co-operation with  Maritime Safety and Security at Szczecin / Poland specialised maritime security training, built around real threats — not off-the-shelf courses. Every programme is tailored to your vessel, trade, and risk environment, delivered by practitioners with genuine operational experience, not classroom-only instructors.

Essential training for crew and officers navigating waters affected by piracy and armed robbery threats, including High Risk Areas (HRA) such as the Gulf of Guinea, Gulf of Aden, and Strait of Malacca. The course covers threat assessment and voyage planning, Best Management Practices (BMP), ship hardening and citadel procedures, watchkeeping and early detection techniques, communication with naval/military forces, and crew response protocols during an attack. Participants leave with the practical knowledge and confidence to reduce risk exposure and protect the vessel, cargo, and crew.

Ideal for: Company Security Officers (CSO), Ship Security Officers (SSO) Masters, Officers, and crew members serving on vessels transiting HRA's .

Important note: Our anti-smuggling training and security protocols for high-risk ports are designed not only to prevent concealment attempts, but to protect crews from wrongful criminalization and vessels from costly detentions when smuggling incidents occur.

Specialised Marine Security Training Services

Beyond the classroom — real intelligence, real testing, real answers when it matters most.

Our specialised services go beyond standard training, providing operational and advisory security support built on genuine field experience — not theory. When incidents happen, evidence is unclear, or standard procedures aren't enough, this is where we step in.

Maritime Cyber Security Audits

Maritime Cyber Security Audits

Cyber security in shipping has stopped being a theoretical compliance topic. Between 2024 and 2026, regulatory and vetting frameworks shifted from guidance to active enforcement — and it now directly affects which vessels get chartered, insured, and cleared through port state control.

Sopiveri Consulting brings a maritime cyber security audit built by people who understand both the bridge and the network diagram — not a generic IT checklist with "vessel" written on the cover.

Why It Matters Now

  • IMO MSC.428(98) — cyber risk must be addressed in the Safety Management System. Gaps can lead to a major non-conformity at ISM audit and, in serious cases, detention or action against the DOC/SMC.

  • IACS UR E26 / UR E27 — applicable to new ships contracted for construction on or after 1 July 2024. E26 requires a documented, ship-level cyber resilience programme (asset inventory, security zones and conduits, protection, detection, response and recovery), and E27 requires onboard systems and equipment to be supplied with specified security capabilities. Compliance is verified by the classification society during construction and at subsequent surveys. The URs do not apply retroactively; existing ships continue to address cyber risk through their SMS under IMO MSC.428(98), alongside flag, vetting and charterer expectations. Newbuilds must meet both.

  • Vetting (TMSA 3 / SIRE 2.0 for tankers, RightShip RISQ for dry bulk) — cyber risk management is assessed as part of operator self-assessment and vessel inspection. Weak performance affects charterer risk assessments and commercial access: a revenue issue, not just paperwork.

  • NIS2 (EU) — applies to medium and large maritime transport companies established in the EU. Fines reach up to €10 million or 2% of global annual turnover (whichever is higher) for essential entities, and €7 million or 1.4% for important entities, with management bodies held accountable. Member states had to transpose it by 17 October 2024; implementation varies, so exposure depends on where your company is established and operates.

  • USCG Cybersecurity Plan — applies to US-flagged vessels and certain US facilities (foreign-flagged vessels are excluded). Incident reporting has applied since July 2025 and training since January 2026; Cybersecurity Plans must be submitted by 16 July 2027.

What We Offer

Cyber Compliance Gap Assessment

Desk-based, no vessel visit required. A remote review of your SMS/ISM documentation against IMO 2021, TMSA Element 13, SIRE 2.0, Rightship 3.2 12.7 & 12.8 requirements. The fastest entry point if you need a clear picture of exposure before committing to a full audit.

  • Review of cyber policies, procedures, and SMS documentation

  • Gap mapping against IMO 2021, TMSA 13, SIRE 2.0, Rightship 3.2 12.7 & 12.8

  • Prioritized report: what risks non-conformity or vetting failure vs. what's simply "nice to have"

Implementation Support

We help you close the gaps we find: cyber risk assessment, cyber policies and procedures for your SMS, remote access, and Cyber Incident Response Plan aligned with IMO and TMSA. Where technical changes to networks or systems are needed, we define the requirements and your IT provider or equipment maker carries them out.

Vetting TMSA  / SIRE /  Rightship  Pre-Assesstment

A dedicated review ahead of a specific vetting inspection — particularly valuable for tanker operators, where the cyber score has a direct, measurable effect on charter eligibility.

Onboard Cyber Pre-Inspection

We check on board what PSC, FSI, class and vetting inspectors will check: whether cyber risk is built into your SMS, whether procedures work in practice and whether the crew can present it.

  • Documentation on board: cyber risk assessment, procedures, system inventory, records of training and drills

  • Practice versus paper: USB and removable media rules, password and account practices, remote access procedures and records, and whether crew and ship networks are kept separate as documented

  • Crew and officer interviews, the way PSC and SIRE 2.0 inspectors ask them

  • USB and removable media policy review — still the most common infection vector on board

  • Report of findings ranked by detention and vetting risk, with a corrective action plan before the real inspection.

Non-intrusive: we do not connect equipment to, scan, test or change any ship system. Findings reflect conditions at the time of the inspection and do not guarantee the outcome of any official inspection.

Crew and Officer Awareness Training

Half-day, on-site or remote — because the most common attack vector remains people, not technology. Covers phishing/social engineering recognition, safe USB use, and incident reporting procedure, with an optional phishing-drill simulation.

Important note: Our assessments reflect the vessel's cyber posture at the time of review and do not constitute a guarantee against future incidents.
