Compass due for adjustment? Your officers do the swing, we do the calculations and issue the deviation certificate. Fixed price per vessel, no attendance needed.
Done by a certified compass adjuster with more than 50 adjustments completed. Your ship stays on schedule, wherever she is trading.

Why It Matters
Under IMO Resolution A.382(X) and international standard practice, a properly adjusted magnetic compass must show a residual deviation of 5° or less on every heading. If the observed error consistently exceeds 5° on any heading, re-adjustment is required. (Under US practice specifically, the threshold is 7°.)
Per ISO 25862, every compass must be re-swung and adjusted at least once every two years — but several flag administrations require an annual review and update of the deviation table, and most manufacturers recommend the same.
Choose annual updates or a fleet-wide agreement and save 10% — full compliance, and the best navigational accuracy your compass can give you, for less.
When Re-Adjustment is Required
1
On first installation
2
If the compass becomes unreliable
3
If observed error exceeds 5° on any heading
4
After dry-docking, structural repairs, or any alteration that could affect the ship's magnetism
5
After installing, removing, or altering electrical or magnetic equipment near the compass
6
At least every two years, regardless of performance
7
Under Panama Canal rules, for vessels of 150 GT and over — annually
How Remote Adjustment Works
1
We send the Master a compass data form — binnacle details, spare correctors (if any), last adjustment record, current gyro error.
2
Ship's officers carry out the compass swing themselves, guided by our step-by-step "at sea" instructions, at a time that suits the Master.
3
Observations are sent back to our certified adjuster, who calculates the corrections.
4
We issue a Deviation Certificate that meets your Flag State's requirements — same validity as an on-board adjustment.

Key Benefits
No adjuster travel cost
no flights, agency fees, or service boats
Fully certified
our adjusters issue Deviation Certificates that meet Flag State requirements
Zero schedule disruption
no port diversion, no waiting for an adjuster to board
Ideal for routine renewal
best suited to scheduled, compliance-driven re-swings
Available Anywhere
including ports with no local adjuster, since the calculation is done remotely

Action Required
Periodic adjustment (ISO 25862)
At least every 2 years
Mandatory — schedule via PMS
Periodic review (recommended)
Annually — per manufacturer, flag, or port requirements. US practice: residual deviation <7°, verified within the last 12 months. Panama Canal: 150 GT+ vessels
Recommended — schedule via PMS
After structural changes
Major repairs or modifications, or on departure from the shipyard
Adjustment required
New or altered equipment
New compass installed, or electrical/magnetic equipment added, removed, or altered nearby
Adjustment required
Performance degradation
Physical defects or unreliable readings
Adjustment required if deviation exceeds 5°, or per your SMS
Deviation record issues
Records not maintained, or recorded deviations excessive
Adjustment required if deviation exceeds 5°, or per your SMS
After special cargoes
Ferrous metals (iron, steel), magnetic chemicals (fertilizers), or high-magnetite cargo
Adjustment required if deviation exceeds 5°, or per your SMS
Master's discretion
Large change in magnetic latitude after prolonged short-sea trading; or a vessel laid up/idle — even briefly, idle periods can cause serious deviation
At Master's judgment
