Vetting & Compliance

Unrivalled Expertise. Exceptional Service. Customized Solutions.

Many providers promise similar services. What sets us apart is results.

Over 30 vessels we've supported have achieved the maximum 12-month RightShip inspection validity, and we've helped reduce high-risk observations to virtually zero. Our clients' SIRE scores consistently sit below benchmark — and a vessel well-prepared for RightShip rarely runs into trouble during PSC either.

We're practitioners, not theorists.

We attend inspections alongside the crew, support response writing and root cause analysis, and stay current through ongoing training and industry seminars. We believe vetting matters — but we also understand the pressure it puts on crews. Our role is to support  Owners, Managers, ships crew  analyzing SMS and PMS to find gaps, and close it  before became a finding.

We offer flexible service packages, fully tailored to your fleet and needs — think of it as outsourcing the vetting preparation burden, so your team can focus on what matters most.

Outsourcing vs In-House: Which One is Right for You?

One overlooked detail in vessel vetting can lead to oil major rejections, failed inspections, or costly delays. So — build an in-house team, or bring in outside experts?

In-house vetting suits organizations with high vetting volumes and the resources to build deep internal expertise — typically large ship managers or owners operating 50+ vessels subject to vetting. It offers full control and alignment with internal standards, but requires significant investment and carries some risk of internal bias.

Third-party vetting gives you independent, standardized assessments backed by global vessel history databases — without the overhead of salaries, training, and software. It's typically favored by boutique ship managers or owners who need fast, objective results without maintaining a dedicated team.

  • Go in-house: if you vet is your daily bread and have an experienced compliance team in place.

  • Go outsourced: if you operate a smaller fleet and need fast, scalable, unbiased and independedt support.

  • Blend both: many companies use in-house teams for routine checks and third-party experts for high-risk vessels and deep dives.

How We Work

Vetting isn't a paperwork exercise for us — it's a hands-on assessment carried out by people who have actually stood on the bridge and walked the deck. To give ship owners and managers a true picture of a vessel's condition and operational readiness, we draw on the same range of data sources used by leading vetting programs, but combine it with the practical judgment only ex-Master Mariners, Chief Engineers, and Superintendents bring. Our assessments typically cover (indicative, not exhaustive):

Recent Inspection Reports:

We review independent assessments such as RightShip, RioTinto/BHP SIRE, and CDI to understand recent vessel condition and operational history, including preventive measures and root cause analysis.

Vetting Specifications:

We analyze Q88, VPQ, and RISQ 3.2 documentation to understand the vessel's design, equipment, and real operational capability.

PSC & Flag State Records:

We evaluate detentions, deficiencies, and inspection history across the vessel's trading pattern.

Crew Qualifications & Experience:

We assess the competence and operational record of onboard personnel — because a vessel is only as strong as the people running it.

Casualty & Incident History:

We look at past accidents or operational failures to properly gauge risk exposure, not just tick a compliance box.

Sanctions Screening:

We check vessels, owners, and related parties against international sanctions regimes as standard practice.

Classification Society Records:

We verify class status, survey history, and any outstanding recommendations.

TMSA Status:

We review the operator's safety and quality management systems against industry benchmarks.

Navigating the Right Course

Outsourcing is ideal for companies that lack dedicated vetting expertise and need fast, scalable, unbiased support.

Where we differ is what happens next: we don't just hand over a report and disappear. We sit with your crew, walk through the findings, and help build the corrective actions that actually prevent the same issue resurfacing at the next inspection.

In-house vetting offers control and continuity for organizations with the scale to support it.
